Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the process of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
