Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
